Meet Laura
I am a registered nurse with nearly 25 years of experience in labor & delivery, maternal and child public health, and pediatrics. In 2025, I completed Postpartum Doula training and have been providing postpartum doula services to friends and family, informally, for many years. For as long as I can remember, I have deeply loved caring for birthing persons and their newborns and families.
My personal birth experience, coupled with a postpartum period that included mental health struggles and many chestfeeding challenges, really brought home the importance of kind and gentle support during the tender weeks after bringing a new life into this world. The time after childbirth or adoption is different for every human-it can evoke so many layered feelings, and having a safe space to transition into this new identity as a parent is so very important.
With an extensive background in caring for medically complex infants and children, as well as socially vulnerable populations, I am passionate about providing equitable, trauma-informed care to everyone. As the parent of a non-binary child, it’s important to me to center the birth journeys of the LGBTQ2S+ community in a place grounded in love, safety & respect. My nursing & personal values center on supporting immigrant and refugee communities, the global majority, neurodivergent persons, and those harmed by systemic injustices. Heart-centered and respectful care for all is central to my approach.
In my spare time, you’ll find me cuddling on the couch with my kiddo & partner, laughing at episodes of “Bob’s Burgers” or “The Golden Girls” (I’m a Jersey girl born and raised, so I’m also always in search of east coast style pizza and a good bagel to nosh), getting caught up in a good book, sharing a meal with people I love, connecting with people in my community or cuddling my dogs (or any other animal in the vicinity).
