Gentle daytime postpartum doula care from an experienced nurse

‍ ‍

As your postpartum doula, I offer gentle support for you & your family on your parenting journey, including:

  • Inclusive body-positive support around infant feeding -whether chestfeeding, bottle, formula feeding, supplemental feeding systems, or any combination of these. Whichever way (s) you choose to feed your baby will be honored & held with emotional reassurance.

  • Sleep support for you and baby (s)- helping you find rhythms and comfort in the early days & weeks to help maximize your rest. Always guided by what feels true and comfortable for you & your family.

  • Practical household help: dishes, bottle cleaning, light tidying/cleaning, laundry, meal prep, and other small tasks so you can focus on healing and your baby.

  • Compassionate support around postpartum mental health and anxiety disorders- ensuring you have space to feel truly heard & seen, and go at your own pace. Providing deep listening, resources, and referrals to therapists, support groups, or peer communities, as desired. You are not alone, and it’s OK if things feel hard. Let’s find ways for things to feel a little easier.

  • Healing physical and emotional support for your body, centering your culture, wisdom & spirit — honoring your story and choices every step of the way. Providing things like healing baths, gentle massage & Reiki, if desired.

  • Nourishment: preparation of nurturing meals that aid recovery while ensuring you are well hydrated, so your body can heal & thrive.

  • Partner/non-birthing parent-centered care for the transition to parenthood, holding space for emotional connection & mental health support.

  • Support with family transitions — caring, play-based care & sibling support. Help creating space for you to bond with your newborn and each other.

  • Education/guidance, if desired, on things like:

    • Infant feeding, care, learning baby’s cues, normal infant development, soothing, diapering, swaddling, sleep

    • Parent postpartum recovery needs in the first year after birth, including all body-inclusive healing, birth control, real conversations around emotions, mental health, nervous system regulation, and absolutely anything you want to talk about.

  • Unrushed time to process your birth or adoption story and experiences if/when you’re ready.

  • Community connections so you don’t have to go through this alone.

You can expect:

Compassionate Non-Judgmental Presence: It begins with listening. By creating space for your story, your feelings, and your questions, I offer care rooted in trust, presence, and genuine human connection.

Meaningful Support: Support looks different for every family. I meet you where you are—offering practical help, reassurance, and guidance tailored to your unique needs and values.

Rest & Recovery: Rest is not a luxury-it’s essential. Helping protect your time and energy so your body & nervous system can recover while you focus on caring for your baby and yourself.

Nourishing Care: Nourishment comes in many forms: warm food, gentle hands, calming presence, and emotional reassurance. My care is about tending to the whole family—body, heart, and home.

Community Support: No one is meant to do this alone. I strive to be part of your support circle, helping bridge the gap when family or community feels far away and reminding you that you are held.

Welcome - I’m Laura (she/her), and I’m so glad you’re here.

I am a parent and a registered nurse who has been honored to care for newborns, birthing persons, and children for over 25 years. I’ve witnessed many families return home after the birth or adoption of their baby (s) with full arms and full hearts - yet so often without the ongoing support needed to feel held and protected during the tender days that follow. Caring for a new little life around the clock, in addition to caring for yourself and possibly other children, can be overwhelming. Being surrounded by warmth, nourishment, and steady care can make all the difference as you move into parenthood from a place of healing and hope.

As your postpartum doula, I promise to support you and your family in the ways that feel safest and most comfortable to you. You, your baby, and your family are always at the center of my care. And when your body and soul feel safe and held, anything is possible.

Testimonials

  • Laura basically saved my life in the postpartum period. Like many moms, I was hit with really rough postpartum depression/insomnia and my partner went back to work really quickly. I needed support, and Laura swooped in with incredible knowledge, care, and the calm energy my baby and I both needed. Laura’s longtime experience in pediatrics and with moms and babies was so reassuring. More than anything else, though, when Laura was in the house with my baby and me, it just felt like everything was going to be OK. She did so many kind, simple tasks without needing to be asked, but checked in on everything to make sure things were done according to my preferences. Laura was really a miracle worker, and I can’t recommend her highly enough as a postpartum doula. Not to mention that she’s the ultimate baby whisperer!
